Thrift shops provide a number of opportunities beyond just getting a great deal on some clothes. Goodwill in particular offers a variety of different products to the consumer. In addition to clothing, you can expand your cd or cassette collection for a fraction of the price you would pay if they were new. Likewise, there are a number of home decorating items available from small statues you can put on a shelf to used books that can make a great addition to your book shelf. But did you ever think to use thrift stores to enhance your kid learning. Here are a couple of things you can watch for:
1.) Consignment Shops- These shops are smaller than your standard Goodwill store but they offer more in the way of learning tools for your child. Check out the area of the store housing board games. Most likely you will come across games like Connect Four and Scrabble. These are the same games many of us used to understand the art of strategy as well as learning to expand our vocabulary. Games like Checker and Battleship are often stocked on the shelve as people make room in their homes. Take advantage of the low prices to get your child a great game.
2.) Outdoor Flea Markets- The only thing better than a cute little thrift store is when it’s moved outside in the fresh air. Indeed, thrift shops will often set up tables at an outdoor market in order to have theirĀ goods seen by more people. Stop by their tables for an assortment of learrning games and tools. Something as simple as a deck of cards can start your child on a new learning adventure that can last a lifetime.
Head out to a thrift shop and skip the mall. The items are selling for a fraction of the price you would see in a store!
